eliminate food deserts.
What We Do
We're on a mission to lessen food inequality and its negative effects
End Food Waste
40% of total food is wasted
We collect excess food from places including Trader Joes, Slow Dough, and Bread Man with the help of Second Servings that otherwise would have been thrown away.
Since 2018, across our twenty-three market events and three Youth Service Day projects, we have collected distributed over 15,200 pounds of food. Our donations range from fresh fruits and vegetables to baked goods to packaged meats.
Eliminate Food Deserts
1 in 5 people are food insecure
We distribute food to multi-service centers in neighborhood that qualify as food deserts. (Food Deserts = areas that lack Grocery Stores with Healthy Food Options)
Currently, we have expanded to four locations: the Sunnyside Multi-service Center, the Kashmere Multi-service Center, Acres Homes Multi-service Center, Texas Children's Hospital and the Redford Apartments. In total we helped deliver food to 1,900 Houstonians!
COVID-19 Response
Delivering food to Low-Income Senior Residents
This pandemic has rendered many populations extremely vulnerable and we are there to help them.
